Birds normally eat our serviceberries before they fully ripen. Except this year. Right now berries at all stages of ripeness hang from the serviceberry tree (amelanchier canadensis). The dark red ones are delicious.
Our avian friends seem to prefer higher protein, crunchy snacks from this spring’s buffet table, like this one.
