Holiday greens workshop

Traditionally, the club holds a holiday greens workshop in December, making small festive arrangements and delivering them to area shelters and social service organizations. After an interruption during the pandemic, the club has now resumed this activity. See our calendar.

Annual picnic

In early June, the club organizes an annual picnic for its membership, which features a guided tour of a notable regional garden or an inspiring garden-related destination, followed by a luncheon. In the past, members have enjoyed visits to such popular sites as Mount Vernon, near Alexandria, VA; Lewis Ginter Arboretum, further afield in Richmond, VA; Baltimore City’s Cylburn Arboretum; and in Suitland, MD, the Smithsonian Gardens Greenhouse Facility.

Open gardens

Members have an opportunity to schedule a morning, afternoon, or evening to open their garden to the membership, inviting members to view, share ideas, gain advice, or simply enjoy the camaraderie of gardeners—outdoors.
