Bethesda Community Garden Club Cares and Conserves
BCGC cares for the well being of the community and of its members. Club members care for and maintain the plantings at the Connie Morella (Bethesda) and Davis Public Libraries and prune the shrubs around both libraries. Typically, the club organizes work days at each library during the growing season. Volunteers weed, water, prune, edge and plant. At our Holiday Greens Workshop in mid-December, members make some 185 small festive arrangements for delivery to area shelters and social service organizations.
We follow green practices at meetings and events — everything from recycling lunch debris to relying on electronic correspondence instead of paper. The club endeavors to set a good example, encouraging members to be be good stewards of the earth. Club volunteers maintain the rain garden at Greenwich Park in Bethesda. We also offer ride sharing to our meetings and keep track of members who may need assistance.
Regular monthly meetings of the Club are held at 10:30 a. m. at the St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 10701 Old Georgetown Road at 270. They are usually on the 4th Wednesday of the month, except for November and December when it may vary to accommodate the holidays.
